I wasn’t planning on posting again till I had some rather involved reviews and critiques to post up, but I decided to make an exception for this particular game. Yes, it’s true, there is a new Ghostbusters game in the works for 2008, and as it’s receiving very little coverage in the gaming media and very few people seem to know about it, I decided to do a little preview…
This is my brand new 360 two days after purchase, LMAO.
First off, I’m going to have to apologize with respect to dropping the ball with this blog. For most of the summer, I was really pushing to constantly improve and update the site to generate an audience of regular visitors, but I got a bit burned out on it by season’s close. Combined with some events in my personal life and a new job to deal with as the fall opened, this site fell to the bottom of the barrel in terms of my priorities. However, now that I’ve settled into things and I finally have a new-generation system, I should be able to start posting with some regularity again.
For now, I’m going to start off with just a basic update…
I just came across this live action Halo 3 ad by the director who’s doing the Halo movie. I’m really surprised it’s not getting more hype and attention…
That was actually “Arm’s Race” part 2, and you can see part 1 here (it’s not as cool).
While practically everyone has played at least one modern Zelda title or another, few people these days are willing to go back and trudge through the mottled pixels of the original NES Legend of Zelda, or Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. While A Link to the Past, The Ocarina of Time and successive titles have built on the foundation of the original NES titles tremendously, there are still crucial elements found in the originals which never made it to the rest of the series.
It looks like all my work on this blog finally payed off in a big way. After getting linked on Digg.com today, page views for my 360 vs PS3: Why It Doesn’t Fucking Matter article went completely through the roof, multiplying my usual daily total of hits twenty-fold. To be honest, I think it’s far from my best work, but the subject matter obviously struck chord with people in a huge way.
My new feature written for Deeko analyzes gameplay features of the title based on footage from E3, at a time when most journalists reporting on the game are preoccupied with the quality of its visuals.
After hearing people rave about Odin Sphere all summer, I finally got around to playing it this week. While its reception in the big gaming publications was low-key, fan blogs, forums and smaller gaming sites all across the internet were intensely aglow with hype for the game. In short, I don’t really see what all the fuss was about. Sure, it looks good and the story is OK, but the gameplay is nothing but shallow button-mashing combat and inane item management.
(Previously titled “N4G Users Cry over Blue Dragon and Lair Scores”)
Last night, someone posted leaked EGM scores for Blue Dragon and Lair on N4G.com (they came from a forum post). Of course, the Blue Dragon score should be old news to 1up users, since James Mielke revealed the mediocrity of the game on his blog when the Japanese version was released months ago.
While I was laughing my ass of at the video, it also made me think “wait a second, why did Square even put that in the game?” Honestly, how were we supposed to care about the game with a lame main character and boring events like that? I think it serves well to sum up all that was wrong with XII’s story.
Anyway, if you’re bored you might want to check out Mega64.com. It’s basically like Jackass, but with a videogames hook. Pretty dumb humor, but funny none the less.
For all the back-and-forth criticism I see going on between Sony devotees and so-called “Wii60 fanboys”, when you look at all the cross-platform titles which are either on their way or already available, you must inevitably come to the conclusion that you’re largely getting the same shit no matter which system you buy.
